What your notice needs to include
To be effective, a notice must be in writing and must contain all of the following:
- A physical or electronic signature of the copyright owner, or a person authorized to act on their behalf.
- Identification of the copyrighted work you say has been infringed.
- Identification of the material you say is infringing, with enough detail for us to find it. A direct URL is best.
- Your contact information: address, telephone number and email address.
- A statement that you have a good faith belief that the use is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law.
- A statement, made under penalty of perjury, that the information in the notice is accurate and that you are the copyright owner or authorized to act on the owner’s behalf.
An incomplete notice may not be effective. Please also be aware that a person who knowingly misrepresents that material is infringing may be liable for damages.
What happens next
When we receive a complete notice we remove or disable access to the material and tell the person who posted it, including a copy of your notice.
Counter notification
If your material was removed and you believe that was a mistake or a misidentification, you may send a counter notification to the agent above. It must include your signature, identification of the material and where it appeared, a statement under penalty of perjury that you have a good faith belief the removal was a mistake or misidentification, your name, address and telephone number, and your consent to the jurisdiction of the federal court for the district where you live, or if you are outside the United States, any district in which we may be found, and that you will accept service from the person who sent the notice. If we receive a valid counter notification we may restore the material as the law allows.
Repeat infringers
We keep a record of the notices we receive and we close the accounts of users who repeatedly infringe.
Reporting something that is not a copyright matter
