Suggestion: Always check back with them and double-check that the podcast will come out when you think it will. Crap happens. Things change. Communications slip. Don't be caught off guard.

LANDING THE SPOT

Let's start simple. The first step is to find several podcasts you'd like to star on. Make sure you listen to the podcasts beforehand. You don't want to promote your romance on a horror show…unless it's Pride and Prejudice and Zombies. It's also important to identify ones that speak to indie authors, not just industry leaders and traditionally published authors with social media engines behind them. For the first podcast or two, think small and friendly so you can ease into it.

Reach out to hosts through their website or social media channels, expressing your interest and explaining how your expertise or book can provide value to their audience. Craft a compelling pitch that highlights your unique story and the insights you can offer.
